Stories from our Mothers (meetings of Palestinian and British women) is a book in English and Arabic of personal stories in their own words telling of Palestinian women’s lives and their experiences since 1947-8: stories of dispossession and refuge, loss and injury, love and courage. The book is also testimony to the power of exchange visits through which British women discover the human rights situation of their counterparts in Palestine. It gives great encouragement to the movement of grassroots twinning with Palestine. (Paperback, £10) "A wonderful addition to an essential Palestinian narrative though a women's oral history that is rarely heard. Vivid and poignant." (Ghada Karmi, author of ‘Married to another man: Israel's dilemma in Palestine'.) | |

- A Handbook for Young People about Human Rights in Palestine. Information for young people looking at the human rights situation in Palestine, based on the work of young people from Palestine and Britain during summer 2009 in the Youth Ambassadors for Human Rights project. The book begins with questions to stimulate enquiry and ends with a reference section and ideas of ways to be practically active in promoting human rights (Bilingual English-Arabic Paperback, £10)

"VOICES FROM ABU DIS" - Personal accounts by Palestinians in Abu Dis, now surrounded and cut off by the Israeli Separation Wall, military checkpoints and massively expanding Israeli settlements. These letters and stories sent to friends in Camden show something of what life is like for the people of Abu Dis sixty years after the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The residents tell of the ways their lives are made miserable, desperate and impoverished by the Israeli military occupation, the military laws, theft of land, polluting of water, refusal of access to hospital, beating, imprisonment and killing. "THE FIRST SIX DAYS: Abu Dis Memories of the Six-day War in 1967 - the Beginning of the Israeli Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip" (Paperback)
In June 1967, the people of Abu Dis found themselves in the front line of the 1967 war, and this book of oral history contains people's memories of their responses as the war started and of their families' movements in its immediate aftermath. These memories are contrasted with memories of the same period by people from Camden, including an Israeli woman, now living in Camden, who in 1967 was called into the Israeli Reserve Army. There are also explanations from Abu Dis of the context of 1967 and the effects of the war on the lives of ordinary people in Abu Dis. Click here for book review and here for flyer. (£8, paperback)
