Education links group - current projects

The Education Links group in Camden includes teachers, governors and college lecturers interested in making links between the schools and colleges in Camden and in Abu Dis, with the aim of supporting education in Abu Dis and helping people in both places to understand more about each other. Education links meets regularly and if you agree with our aims, we welcome your involvement. Please contact us.
Current projects
- Teacher exchanges between Camden and Abu Dis. So far, Camden teachers have spent time in Abu Dis schools in October 07 and will do again in April 09. Abu Dis teachers visited Camden schools in October 2008.
- Supporting schools in building twinning and friendship links, so far Hampstead School & Abu Dis Boys' School (Click here for the Abu Dis Boys' School blog), South Camden Community School & the UNRWA School, Maria Fidelis & the UNRWA School (Click here for the blog linking these schools), Edith Neville School & the Elementary School Abu Dis.
- We are also raising money for a music teacher for Abu Dis. The teacher has started but so far with only two sessions a week. Let us know if you can help by making a small regular standing order.
- Making a book about the experiences of children in Abu Dis in both English and Arabic to be available in both places.
- Making a book about the experiences of children in Abu Dis in both English and Arabic to be available to schools in both places.
- Distributing material about human rights in Palestine in both English and Arabic to schools in Camden and Abu Dis.
- Raising money for Abu Dis schools - for example, the internet, data projectors, games equipment, maths and English teaching equipment.
- Maintaining contact with local teachers through a newsletter in English and Arabic.
