Past Women's Links Projects
When CADFA first started, it was harder for women at both ends to stay in contact with each other than for men, as women in Abu Dis often have less access to computers. However, CADFA women funded the start of a women's internet cafe in Abu Dis and CADFA volunteers have helped with both English and computer classes. Visits in both directions have been useful, and there are now good links between CADFA women's links groups in Camden and the Dar Assadaqa women’s group in Abu Dis. Our "friendship quilt" sewn in Abu Dis and Camden became the CADFA banner (see picture below). The banner made by the women’s group at Dar Assadaqa with the help of a CADFA volunteer has become the Dar Assadaqa logo (picture below)

Women’s links projects have included:
- Supporting the development of the women’s centre in Dar Assadaqa
- Fundraising for a visit of Palestinian women to come on speaking tours of Britain
- Seeking ways to support the mothers of prisoners
- Working with Camden women and women's centres to highlight the human rights situation for women in Abu Dis
- We "adopted" Rawan Thawabteh, a woman prisoner from Abu Dis - No-one accusedher of having actually done anything, but she was imprisooned, but she was imprisoned in Israeli jails from the age of 16 for four years. We are pleased that she is now free.
